#2 Vet in Houghton Le Spring, Tyne and Wear
SimplyCats Vet Clinic is an independent, feline-only veterinary practice founded in 2009, and it states it holds the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) “gold standard” accreditation. The clinic appears set up specifically to reduce stress for cats, with a cat-only environment and longer consultations, and it says it provides “all services under one roof.” Reviews strongly reflect the cat-only setup (owners explicitly mention the absence of dogs reducing stress), and include examples of follow-up communication (a vet phoning and talking through kittens’ health for around 20 minutes). There’s also at least one recent negative review saying care feels worse since a named vet (Michelle) left, which conflicts with other reviews describing reassuring, kind support from another named vet (Sarah).

An excellent veterinary clinic! Only professionals work here, and they were very helpful to my cat. It wasn't as expensive or difficult as I had imagined. Thank you!

This vet practice is great - cats only so no woofing dogs to stress the kitties - no cheaper than any of the big four vets - however, the staff are lovely, the main vet Sarah is always reassuring and kind. Please to have found this vet practise

It is such a shame that Michelle is no longer at simplycats. She was the nicest and most dedicated vet that helped save our cat’s life when another vet tried to push us to euthanise him. He's still alive 2 years later! Honestly, she was the only reason me and my partner kept going back to simplycats. Unfortunately, the vets/nurses that are left don't seem to give the same amount of care at all. I've called every other vet I could find in the area to try and find where she went which was hard as I only know her first name! I finally found that she is now at Weardale vets in Crook after I asked for the American vet that dissolves blood clots in paralysed cats- something she told us she does when we asked why she came to the UK. I wanted to post this in case anyone else is looking for Michelle.

I’ve never felt compelled to write a review of any Vet that I’ve visited before, but everyone at SimplyCats has gone above and beyond what I expected while looking after my cat Izzy - I just wanted to say thank you for making her as comfortable as possible in the last few months of her life, particularly when we had to bring her in for the final time. I would never go anywhere else with my other cats, big thanks in particular to Lucie who took great care of Izzy - and to Caroline and Deb who helped sort everything else out when I was feeling particularly upset and made things as easy as possible. Would definitely recommend SimplyCats to anyone looking for a new Vet, it’s very obvious that they genuinely care

Took my kittens to Simply Cats for a 6-month review. It was their 1st visit to Simply Cats as I have transferred from another vets practice. I was really impressed about the lovely feedback I had from the vet Lucy who rang and chatted with me for around 20mins or so.. she answered my questions and showed genuine interest in the health and well-being of both my kittens. I would definately recommend Simply Cats!
